This is the beginning of an ongoing series of monthly recommendations. Each month I will showcase different blogs, books, organizations, brands, and really anything that calls to me to share it. These recommendations are all coming from a place of focus around finding oneself, and the idea that to find yourself you must discover other things. To read more about that, you can check out my post, How To Move Past Feeling Lost and Begin To Find Yourself Again.

Our featured book this month is: The Crossroads of Should and Must- Find and Follow Your Passion by Elle Luna
The Crossroads of Should and Must, happened to be the first book I picked up while researching for the perfect book to start my series. I have several books in mind for the months ahead, but didn’t feel like any of them were perfect for the first installment of this series. So, I went on Amazon and looked up a few books I have heard of to find the exact right one. This wasn’t one of them. This was just a random book listed on Amazon as a book similar to the ones I was putting in my cart. For $8.00 I decided, why not? The message seems to be similar to what I am looking for, and one of the biggest parts of my philosophy is to accept what’s being put before you.
At 10 pages in, I was hooked. Somehow, Elle Luna had connected to my thoughts and written a book for me. Not only did she write for me, but she wrote almost the exact words I have said about searching for yourself. It was empowering to see my thoughts about the journey of finding yourself and your passion on published page.
The Crossroads of Should and Must, is a super easy read. It took me just a few hours of focus to finish the whole book. With that said, it is still worth well over the $8.00 (new) that I purchased it for. While it reads like a start-to-finish book, it can easily be used as a workbook to guide yourself through self-exploration. In fact, I will be utilizing it as such, by re-reading it regularly to keep myself focused and on path.
“Must is a choice you make every single day. Today. Tomorrow. Again and again. Must.” -Elle Luna
The book itself is beautiful. With simple yet beautiful illustrations, you find it pulling at your soul and feeding your energy. It is uplifting and inspiring while still being real. I had the realization while reading this, that Adam has been helping me choose my “must” everyday for years. He has pushed me to make the “selfish” decision every day. That ” selfish decision”, is to follow my heart to find and explore my dreams. Then to make the leap to try to make them profitable.
I say selfish decision because we are programmed to think it is. That the only way to live is to find something that pays the bills, go to work, come home, repeat. That living your passion and finding a way to work by being what you are, is unreasonable and selfish. It’s time to start realizing that it’s not.
You were put on this earth to serve a purpose. To write your own beautiful story and draw your own meaningful life map. The way your inner vibe (soul, spirit, whatever you call it) works with the universe will be different from your parents, neighbors, children. It will be different, and it will be your own.
This book is an invaluable resource in starting your journey to chip away the shoulds that have built up though your life, and find your real you. Take the jump and start discovering where your passions lie. You won’t know what you do know until you find it.
